Hello, my name is Katie, I worked within the care sector for over 17 years before training as a counsellor, here I found there never seemed to be enough time, time to sit down with someone and really listen, time for them to feel equal and important and time for them to feel connected. 

As a counsellor I am able to offer you regular uninterrupted time, a space where you are able to talk confidentially and be heard. I offer a warm and gentle approach with compassion and kindness, a calm environment to explore your thoughts with acceptance and understanding.

I believe that the relationship and trust built between therapist and client is an important aspect to the counselling process being successful, you are able to bring what you want to the sessions in your time, working at your pace and in your direction. I will hear all your experiences as meaningful and unique without judgement.

Humanistic Integrative Counsellor

As a humanistic counsellor I work with you, I receive you as a whole person, I take into account your past, present and future as well as your emotional, mental and physiological needs. 

As an integrative counsellor I believe there is no one approach which suits each client therefore I combine different elements of specific therapies to ensure a tailor made service which is right for you.

Person Centred Therapy
Focus on individual needs, wants and goals - Client is central to the process - Empathetic understanding - Accepting and valuing client for self - Promotes self-awareness and independence.

Transactional Analysis Therapy
Promotes personal growth/change - Understanding and helping to develop constructive communication in relationships - Client encouraged to find solutions to current problems.

Gestalt Therapy
Focus on immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviour to better understand the way in which we relate to others - Increases awareness - Helps give new perspective to effect change.

CBT Therapy
Goal-orientated - Problem solving - Coping skills, tools and techniques - Focus on how thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviour.

I am a registered member of the British association of counsellors and Psychotherapists.

I attend regular clinical supervision.
